Nokia announced an expansion of its partnership with Xantaro to include next-generation fiber access, which connects more than 2 million British homes at broadband speeds of up to 10Gbps.
Nokia is providing its next-generation optical access technology to channel partners and service integrators Xantaro, which provides services to more than 10 alternative service providers. Taken together, these projects span the entire United Kingdom, from southwest England, parts of London, northern England to Scotland and Wales.
Alternative service provider AltNets is establishing an all-fiber deployment service in areas where broadband availability is slow or there is no available network in urban and rural environments. Nokia is supporting AltNet to use market-leading technology to further increase broadband connection speeds and fiber penetration in the UK, enabling GPON, XGS-PON and 25G PON in a single unit. This technology enables service providers the flexibility to choose the most appropriate deployment model for each use case and provides long-term investment protection. Xantaro can also use Nokia's IP and optical solutions, as well as consumer and business-oriented equipment, to provide WiFi 6 and mesh WiFi coverage in buildings.
